It happened in a certain town where there was a very deep cave, that had many labyrinths. This is the story:
Many shouts and crying were heard in that cave but what was most unusual and horrifying was that the persons who were passing by, would hear the voices of people they knew and even they would hear their own voices.
In a certain day, a very large group of persons decided to solve that problem and they went to the place with arms and torches. But something strange happened when they approached since they could not hear many voices but only one voice saying: " I have been waiting for you because I have beautiful treasures to give yon."
Some persons went forward faster than the others, but finally, they all were in the middle of a large space, which was illuminated by the torches of these risky, daring and now ambitious adventurers. Then, they realized that there was a child, a very small child, maybe 4 or 5 years old who was literally seated on top of large amounts of gold, jewels and a large amount of money.

Some of the persons asked: " Who are you, maybe a small demon or a lost child?" At the same time, all the multitude approached the lost child and put him to one side and forgetting about him, started to take the treasure. And it happened that after they all took the treasure and nothing was left not even dust, they wanted to get out but they could only find a deeper and deeper labyrinth. And they asked the child : " Do you know how to take us out of here?" The child only nodded and he took them to a very narrow place with only a very small orifice to exit. which was too narrow for them to get out but the child got out and after he looked at the people trapped inside, said: " I will reveal the secret of the voices now, of the shouts and the treasure. Many persons have come as you just did, trying to take the treasure but they all have fallen into the labyrinth from which they will never be able to get out. Look at the treasures they are taking." And when they did, they saw that the treasure have turned into heads, arms, legs. And the child continued: " Those bones belong to the persons who came before you."
The persons were horrified and started shouting and asking the child: "Who are you?" The child said: " I am the demon of darkness and ambition, and inside my mouth you will become desperate and will try to get out, will experience conflicts and will fight, kill and will eat one to the other, when this happens, I will eat the leftovers and I will gather you all and will make a bigger treasure...continued>

Besides, the shouts that you listened to, belonged to people trapped just like you, none of you ever saw the lost, frightened child, you only saw the riches, which justifies me and tells me that they are more ambitious than me, and is like if I was eating my own flesh, then I do not do anything wrong, but I feed on their flesh and bones but mainly in the dirtiness of their souls; they didn't have compassion, then, they will never get out of this place."
Then, more and more voices were heard, which were the tormented spirits of the ones who had come before.
How did you learn about this story? Well, another man, which was maybe the simplest or helpless, told the story because he was present one day and he listened many voices and went into the place and he came out of the place with a child in his arms and not even a gold coin. And the false child asked: " What is the reason that you took me and you left all that gold?" And the man answered: " Child, have you not realized yet that I am blind and that I only listened and felt that I must rescue you and that is what I did." That demon felt moved and he saw, realized and knew that there are simple things which are more mysterious and prodigious that anybody can suppose...continued>

The demon then said: " I am a fallen angel and I feed on ambition and pride but you are the first honest man that I ever met. I cannot give you anything but it astonishes me that some men see with their eyes but not with their hearts as you did. I can only say that there will always be conflict between good and evil but you defeated me." He, then, went back into the cave crying, which was his natural place, shouting and crying. And that man felt that it is not necessary to have the eyesight if the spiritual eyes are open and when this happens, we can go into terrible places but we will come out with a child among our arms because the demon will never have power over a noble heart.
And from this man, the story was known.
